The Serrano pepper gets its name from Spanish, meaning “mountainous”, referencing its origins in the mountains of Mexico.
This small pepper, ranging from 5 to 10 cm, is widely used in Central America for marinades and is added to hot dogs (sport pepper). It is also used to create spicy sauces and salad dressings. This green pepper primarily turns red when ripe, though yellow and brown varieties can also be found.
