The Chilaca pepper, also known as Pasilla or Chile Negro once dried and ground into powder, is a fairly mild pepper reaching 2,000 Scoville units. It is a very popular pepper in Mexican cuisine. The color of this pepper is dark brown.
Its raisin-like aroma earned it the name Pasilla, which means “little raisin” in Spanish.
